Model Aircraft

Their story, in their words…

Our team successfully built a DIY model aircraft from scratch. We researched working models online, investigated materials, and looked into the electronics behind this kind of project. The amalgamation of this research was present when we creatively designed a unique prototype and manufactured it to look and fly like a real aircraft.

The team is proud to have made tangible results from all of the hard work we put into this project. It was an amazing experience and we have definitely grown as both engineers and a group of friends.

We finished our plane and it could achieve short flight, however, not as long as we wanted. There are still multiple adjustments and tweaks we can make. In the future, we will continue certain aspects of this brilliant project. The plane will remain an ongoing task and something we look forward to continuing in the future!

Some of the main skills we developed through this project are creativity, teamwork, and adaptability. Everyone in our group learnt about materials, some of the flight mechanics behind an aircraft, the circuitry involved, and the mathematics needed to make all of it work.

We thoroughly enjoyed fundraising and working with the Mark Evison Foundation, it has been a great experience and we enjoyed every moment of it!
