Scotland Hiking Trip

Their story, in their words…

What we did

For our Mark Evison Project, we took the challenge of completing a 48.75km hike following the Three Lochs Way from Balloch to Tarbet.

How it worked out

We knew this project would be a challenge, primarily because we had never planned and gone on a trip without the help of adults. We are very grateful for taking on this challenge as we gained an unforgettable experience. As we had yet to go on regular hikes before our trip, we took a route through the valleys to walk on a straight path. Once we began, we soon realised that our route was far from flat. The fact that our bags were heavier than 10kg made this even more challenging. However, with our great teamwork, we pulled through and were rewarded each time with astounding views. Though the route was demanding, our plan worked out, and we camped at the designated spots each night. Wild camping together was a new experience for most of our team and gave us all indelible memories.

How we felt and what we got out of it

From the beginning, we were all very excited that Mark Evison had given us the opportunity to go on our first solo trip. We learnt so much about each other and our ability to adapt to an experience that was outside of our comfort zone. We were surprised at the end; not only had we managed to complete the hike, but we had also arrived earlier than expected! This reflected how determined and supportive we were as a group. As previously stated, we weren’t only surprised with our abilities, but also with the scenery around us. It was breathtaking. The views of the lochs and the peacefulness of it all were incredible.

We would definitely recommend that other students take part in a Mark Evison Project.
