Taha and Sofia

The dark Sky that awaits

Their story, in their words…..

So, on the 3rd of September Sofia and I travelled across the United Kingdom to Bangor, Wales, which marked the first point of our 6-day wild camping experience. We spent the first night camping in Aber Falls and the rest of the nights scattered across the mountains of Snowdonia. We met lots of butterflies, wonderful people who ended up helping us navigate the ruthless, cold and beautiful mountains and most of all we learnt a lot about ourselves.

I think that nothing can really prepare you for the future or the paths that you wish to take; and the harder the journey, the more rewarding the path is and its final views. We both set out for this mini2-person expedition excited and brimmed with energy, and we returned exhausted, sleep-deprived, yet grateful and excited nonetheless – such are the things when one challenges themselves beyond what they think is capable. We met many wonderful people, shared many laughs with those we came across, and we’ve become so ever wiser than we were the day before, yet still understanding very little of what there is.

The mountain climbs were quite overwhelming to be fair, especially with all the gear we were carrying so that part was really exhausting – not to mention we then spent the night wild camping which meant that we weren’t exactly getting the best quality sleep we could’ve – that proved to be really challenging. As for what we enjoyed, well the entire journey! Despite its difficulties and overwhelming climbs and walks, we both enjoyed every moment that we spent climbing, eating, sleeping, and staring at the night sky – which was like nothing we’ve EVER seen before – even saw a few shooting stars.

If you spend too much time worrying about the road and your choice, you’ll never take it. And if you take it with a grain of salt and run on it, you’ll be ruined before you make it. There isn’t anything quite like pushing yourself to the limit, so if you are thinking of doing the same, don’t spend too much time worrying about it, and don’t spend too much time planning it – let life unfold itself outwards, in ways that both you and I are yet to understand 🙂
