Cooking Classes

Their story, in their words…

For our project, we took created in a series of Asian cooking classes . In these classes, we would teach Asian classics from different countries to spread culture and highlight different dishes from other Asian countries that people may not know.

These dishes would include beef bulgogi, Pad Kra Pao, chicken adobo, and Thai red curry. In each class together we would prepare ingredients, and create lesson slides that included a how to step by step guide on what to do as well as a slide dedicated to the history and context behind the dish for example did you know there are over 100 different variations of adobo!

Overall, the project went really well. Each class was enjoyable, and by the end we were able to make several dishes  as a class. At the beginning, the first class was quite challenging, especially when teaching groups of people as well ensuring that  the flavours are right, but as we continued we would get better each time. Since, after all the sessions I can say that I felt really good about how everything turned out because at the start, we weren’t very confident, but over time we became more comfortable cooking and leading the classes so to see people enjoying the dishes.

It was also satisfying to see the final dishes being made after putting in the effort. From this experience, we gained more confidence and improved my teamwork skills . We also learned more about different cultures through their food, which made the whole experience more interesting. Overall, it was a fun project and something we’d like to keep doing in the future.
