Cycling - London, Weymouth, Durdle

Their story, in their words…

First Day: 1h ride to Waterloo Station, got the train, 1h ride from Weymouth Station to the hostel.
Second Day: 5h ride to Durdle Door, 2h at Durdle door, cycled to nearest station to Weymouth station and cycled back to hostel
Final day: 1h ride to Weymouth Beach, cycle to Weymouth Station, cycle home from Waterloo.

It did work out in the end, but there were many bumps and issues we did not expect, but still managed to look for alternatives and adapt. On the way to Durdle Door, one of our bikes broke down, and we had to take the risk of hitch to take the broken bike to the station with our friend (which worked out fine!).

It was very stressful at this time, but we all convinced ourselves to enjoy Durdle Door, and appreciate how lucky we are to have made it there (the bike broke down 5 minutes away from the destination). We learnt to never give up from asking for kindness from strangers (around 20 people rejected our request of asking for a 15 min drive to Poole Station with Nathan and the broken bike).

We learnt how collective ideas and thinking can develop great ideas as well as help comfort eachother in stressful situations. Such resilience brought us through right until the end, especially as we were able to ‘fix’ the bike to a somewhat ride-able state and were able to ride back to Weymouth, and have more fun at the beach there!

This cycling trip definitely took a toll on us, being physically and mentally tiring, but we all agree that it brought us all closer as we all faced the thrilling adversity together.
