Their story, in their words…
We followed the Thames Path, starting at the Woolwich Thames barrier. We then walked through the Woolwich foot tunnel under the Thames, and from there walked a long path through many houses and busy streets to Canary Wharf. Our team walked through the streets of London, spotting amazing sitings such as the London eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament as well as London Bridge. As time progressed it grew darker quite quickly and so were unable to complete the hike with the original destination being Kew Gardens, instead we went to London Victoria Gardens and took a few pictures there, however as it was quite late not a lot was visible.
The trip itself was very rewarding, despite the aches in our feet’s and legs, the sites we saw were very scenic and we stumbled across many new places we had never seen or heard of! Another rewarding aspect was the feeling of knowing we had accomplished a feat of walking 40+ Kilometers and it even inspired us to organize hiking trips of our own in the future.
As a whole we all felt very happy and grateful to have been granted this opportunity by the Mark Evison organization and extremely pleased to have taken part in the hike.
