Their story, in their words…
We ran more than 2 marathons within the space of 3 days in highland (Wales)
2 marathons are a total distance of 84.2 kilometres (52.3 miles). We ran 90.33 KM.
The final day of running grinded against my mental boundaries and I’m shocked I was able to complete it. My resilience was tested, my muscles were in excruciating pain but the feeling of accomplishment was a greater emotion.
We travelled using a coach and train. After unforeseen circumstances we missed our coach but were allowed to take the next one. We stayed in a private room at the YHA Manorbier.
Our run followed a hilly coastal pathway where we overlooked the sea. The air was very crispy and completely different to that of London.
On Saturday we ran a total distance of 26.95 KM. Our running time was significantly affected as we took the wrong route. We used maps to alter our route but the hills we encountered were much steeper.
On Sunday morning we awoke to muscle soreness. After deep stretching we ran a total distance of 24.07KM. When we arrived back at YHA we were drained of energy.
On Monday we awoke extra early to run as we had to check out of YHA by 10:30 AM. We realised that we needed to run a greater distance than the previous days to reach our target. This run was treacherous due to the hills we had to climb and the heat (it was the day before temperatures reached 40 degrees). Successfully we ran 39.31 km.
This brought our total distance to 90.33 KM (accidentally exceeding our target by 6 KM)
The journey back was painful. Our coach broke down due to the heat and we were forced to wait for another coach in Reading for an hour.
We are all really proud of our achievement and it is a goal achieved that we can reflect on for the rest of our lives. By far, it was the hardest challenge we’ve faced. Also, it serves as a reminder for us to push past limits and assure us that we have the capability to do so.
