Cycle to Amsterdam

Their story, in their words…

Hello, it’s already been a month since the trip and i still feel like it was yesterday .

Planning and preparations

However, cycling was not the initial part of the journey – it was the planning and preparation that came before it .

This consisted of the most important part, drafting detailed plans of the future journeys routes , budgeting , training and working alongside the Mark Evison foundation until the very last moment.

Fitness could not be underestimated, leading to training daily on different difficulties , elevation and distances .

The journey

We set off on the 21st of July at around 8 am, it took us the whole day to reach todays destination with multiple refill stops. We arrived around 6 pm. On the next day we set off at around 11 am on the route to catch the ferry and reach France, our first country abroad. Along the days we stayed in a mix of warmshower hosted places , including sleeping on a farm and sleeping in a cycling couples home .

On the sixth day after cycling through four different countries we made it to Amsterdam and what an accomplishment it was.

This experience has taught me invaluable lessons about myself , kindness , determination and impossible.

Thanks again to the foundation for embarking us on this great experience as it has been unforgettable and has sparked challenges to come in the future.
