Game project

Their story, in their words….

Designing our game has been the most collaborative aspect of this project. While individually drawing each frame for our character was extremely tedious, we were very proud of our own original designs. Although our project on whole was very ambitious and we only managed to fully integrate 2 of our characters as well as a background, we had ideas for more character and levels. The images above show some of the intended designs.

We slightly underestimated how long the digital designs would take us as we did not anticipate the problems with the graphics when we merged the coding and designing together. However, we are very proud of the design of our first few characters, our hard work and the effort we put into the project effort.

Coding has been the most difficult aspect of creating the game. Even with assistance from internet tutorials and siblings, it took up a lot of our time during the day to create and understand new code. This meant we were very stretched for time. However, we have achieved a much better understanding of the software, Python, and gained beneficial skills such as critical thinking, information technology and resilience during time of adversity. This was both a fun and challenging project which our team thoroughly enjoyed.

We feel as though exploring the concept of coding and how it’s used within the gaming industry was quite interesting. We will continue to explore python and practice our coding skills. One of us, Shannon, feels she enjoyed coding so much that she has decided to learn more advanced and professional codes, so Mark Evison Foundation was definitely a great project to assist with personal development.
