Their story, in their words….
For our project we decided it would be selfish to pursue an activity that wasn’t beneficial for our feminism club’s cause and as a team we decided we wanted to create a profit for Women’s aid (A domestic violence charity that provides support for women and children facing abuse in the home)to help other women needing support.During the duration of the project we discussed what trendy item would be not only eye-catching but have productive use for our younger target audience and after much deliberation we decided tote bags would be our final selling product. On the bags we also wanted to portray a feminist message with simple wording of what we truly wanted to be accomplished for women. We designed a receipt type design that was similar to the receipt design artists like Frank oceans-Blonde,Willow smiths-Willow and Harry styles-Fineline had on pinterest.
On the 20th of august at 11.00 4 members of our group members met to organise our tote bags and sell tote bags on the streets of Oxford circus earlier in the day,However after some failed sales we decided to move our sales to King’s cross market. At this venue we found a more friendly audience and half of the group sold bags walking while the other half sat on a table and sold the bags to walking audiences. However a hour after selling we happened to coincedentially bump into the Ceo of Women’s aid. Out of all the events from the day meeting the Ceo of Women’s aid was a shock as they are based far from London and came to King’s cross randomly like we did. After this surprising event the moral of the team was high and we approached and sold more bags. After 2pm two members left and the other remainder of the team joined and we travelled to Hyde park to sell for a couple more hours for a different audience.
Even though it was fun to design an sell the bags one downfall of our chosen activity was because of Covid many customers were unable to purchase the bags however in the future our feminism club would love to make our own products again and create more money to give to womens aid.
