Their story, in their words…
For our Mark Evison project we created a 20 min long psychological short film about relationships and grief which we shot in Hyde Park. Initially we planned to create a horror short film but after changing the script and considering time and availability of actors we decided to make a more artistic psychological short film as less actors would be needed, and it wouldn’t take as long to film it.
During the pre-production and post-production process we faced a lot of challenging issues. The major issue we came across was that we had to delay the filming to the last week of summer due to sudden holiday plans from the actors which we couldn’t have predicted beforehand. Another major issue we faced was the disagreement we had as a group with the script. The 3 of us had different visions of how we wanted to film to look and be about, which led to 5 script rewrites and changes which led to us only finalising the script a few days before filming. We believed that all this would have a big impact on the final product. However, looking at the final product, the footage came as a surprise to us as it didn’t look as rushed and messy as we thought whereas actually some of the shots look cinematic.
At the end of the project, we all felt very relived and proud of ourselves as despite all the obstacles we faced, we still managed to push through to create something that we are all proud of despite it didn’t completely match our vision on how it would look. As a group we felt that our bond grew stronger as we were able to accomplish something that is not easy and took a lot of dedication and effort.
What we achieved from this experience is the ability to work together as a team and complete a project in a limited amount of time. We also gained resilience from the start to the end of the project while experiencing conflict and disagreement within the group.
