Their story, in their words…

Since first hearing of this project, I knew what I wanted to do and was fuelled by ambition, as an aspiring coder, I quickly gathered up a few of my friends, thought of a game idea and sent the proposal.

We all honestly had some doubts as the project was truly ambitious, I mean it is making 36 games inside another more complex game – and making it mobile friendly; Something I was absolutely not familiar with! However, as the days passed. The finish line became clearer and clearer through teamwork and perseverance. Of course, it was a difficult journey but before we knew it, the game was even better than intended. As of now 44 minigames have been made along with events, in game purchases and social media accounts with some videos gaining over 2 thousand views on YouTube and Tik Tok and an animation made to advertise the game.

Undeniably, the hardest part of the project is to work consistently and find motivation (even though it’s a holiday) even I had trouble with burnout at times with some days working for over 4 hours and some days only for a few minutes. A very important lesson I’ve learnt through doing this project is the need for consistency and perseverance. “It’s not a race, it’s a marathon.” Such a phrase was drilled into our minds during school and continuously repeated in every school assembly, however you truly understand it’s importance until you actually work on something. Initially I tried to rush the minigames and do the project quickly but that only lead to burnout. Somehow, when I toned down the daily workload, efficiency increased.

This project was a great experience and showed me a glimpse of the future I desired.
