Mortem, screen play

Their story, in their words…

We have created a short “horror” film about a group of teenagers coming back from a party and are attacked by a monster that feeds off fear. We first recorded certain scenes earlier in the year using school equipment which was difficult to learn but we managed to record it all ok. We then recorded the rest during the summer holidays but had equipment difficulties with the camera which meant we had to restart and and record all the scenes via a phone which caused some stress and panic. However, we feel that this really pushed us to take matters into our own hands and come up with solutions.

We made a shot list before setting out to record which made things easier. However, it took a while to record everything and required good management and communication skills to organise and schedule meet-ups to record. With it being the holidays, there were some scheduling issues when we needed the whole cast together for certain scenes. The editing process was a lot of experimentation but we definitely learnt new skills in the process. We all thought it was a daunting task creating out very first short film, but we were quite excited to try something new. In the end the final product was better than we thought it could have been. We feel that this challenge helped push us out of our comfort zone gaining more leadership and problem solving skills. Overall, we are all proud of what we have created and have come out of it with a new set of useful skills.
