Radar Imaging Device Project

Their story, in their words…

As a group of four people, we created a device which uses a radar sensor to track the displacement, velocity and acceleration of objects within its range. Using a microcontroller, we were able to enable communication between a laptop and the sensor. After creating algorithms to receive the data and transform it into something presentable, we were able to neatly display the speeds of objects we threw in front of the sensor.

Throughout the process, we came across many obstacles. One of which being a microcontroller which was not optimal for our use. We found that its speed could not keep up with the sensor and so we had to order another microcontroller. Despite the setbacks, we believe challenges like this are what makes technical projects so amazing. Problem solving is the main goal, not just following the plan step by step, as something is bound to go wrong.

After this project, we ultimately feel inspired to continue developing our programming and engineering skills so that they can be applied to our goals later in life.
