Their story, in their words…
As a group of five people, we took part in a five-day hiking trip to the Peak District. Each day we got to experience different hiking routes around the youth hostel that we stayed at. Most notably, on the second day, we hiked 27km from the hostel, along Grindsbook Clough, to Kinder Downfall and back; which had spectacular views that were very rewarding for the long hike there.
In retrospect, the trip provided us with spectacular scenery of the nature around us, but it was also taxing on our bodies as hiking everyday got us quite tired. However, we felt that the discomfort was minor compared to the opportunity of exploring the wilderness of the Peak District.
One day we also set up tents to camp in. It was very rainy during this period and so this made setting them up much more challenging. It was difficult to keep the inside of the tent dry when everything around us was soaking wet. We had to improvise and find a suitable spot where the rainfall was not as harsh. Overcoming this obstacle was key to our development over the trip. It made us understand that not everything will always go smoothly: according to the plan.
All in all, the five-day trip was packed full of adventure and it worked out amazingly.
