Their story, in their words…
On the 29th of May, Gavin, Gabriel and Fafa embarked on an exciting journey from London to Brighton, covering a distance of approximately 75km. Our team of 3 enthusiastic cyclists shared a passion for exploring the beautiful landscape of England. Before the trip, we made thorough preparations, including route planning, arranging rental bikes and gathering essential supplies such as water, snacks and spare parts.
We kicked off our journey early in the morning, waking up at 5 am to get our bikes from a rental in Sutton, we encountered difficulties obtaining the bikes due to problems with the system of company, but eventually, we were ready to go. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and excitement as we set off, clad in our cycling gear and armed with determination. The route took us through picturesque countryside and charming towns. We encountered stunning views of rolling hills, verdant fields and quaint villages along the way.
Although the route offered breathtaking scenery, it also presented great physical challenges. The undulating terrain demanded endurance and stamina, testing our cycling skills. Steep hills challenged our leg strength, but rewarding descents and flat stretches provided relief and a chance to catch our breath and recover. Through the journey, we witnessed the true spirit of camaraderie among our team members. Encouraging, support and the occasional light banter kept our spirits high, fostering a sense of togetherness. We worked together, taking turns leading and drafting, which helped us conserve energy and maintain a steady pace. To refuel and recharge, we made periodic stops at conveniently located cafes and rest areas. These breaks allowed us to hydrate, enjoy some snacks and interact with a fellow cyclist, sharing stories and tips. It also provided us with opportunities to appreciate the local culture and hospitality of the towns we passed through.
After many hours and water bottles later we finally arrived in Brighton, heading straight to the beach to bathe in the last hour of sun lights. We stopped and a local restaurant and enjoyed some fish and chips at the pier and showing pride and satisfaction in what we had achieved. As amateur cyclists, this trip provided us with incredibly valuable experience, from the scenic landscape to the physical challenges, the journey offered a unique blend of excitement, camaraderie and personal growth. We look forward to embarking on future cycling expeditions and expanding our horizons as passionate cyclists.
