Their story, in their words…
As a group, we took on the challenge of building a functioning battle bot from scratch. After obtaining the raw materials and parts we set out constructing the frame of the bot before creating all the electric circuits to enable it to move by remote control. In total the whole process took about two months.
Despite many challenges and setbacks during the building process, including faulty equipment, in the end we successfully managed to create a working battle bot, even if the finished product was not what we had originally expected it to be like.
We felt many emotions throughout this project. There were many moments of frustration when the ideas we had didn’t work out as hoped, but also moments of joy and pride when we finally achieved successes like the movement of the battle bot remotely. At times giving up seemed like the only option as we experienced failure after failure, but we were determined to complete the idea as this provided us with a great set of skills that can be used in the future.
The skills gained include practical abilities of constructing, engineering and problem- solving, as well as teamwork, resilience and organisation. Through this task of building a battle bot we have overall had a great experience and feel we have accomplished something great.
