Their story, in their words…
We went camping for a week in Dartmoor and most days we went for a hike, roughly 15km. We enjoyed it very much especially as it was a first for 2 people in the group.
There were times when we did get lost and wanted to give up, but we persevered and made it on to the end. We learnt a lot during our time there, including the whole organising part of it.
We wild camped in the middle of Dartmoor one night and it was an eye-opening experience. We had to use sterilised river water to cook and for washing up.
We also were awoken by cows that night which was both scary but funny. We learnt from our mistakes and now know not to let anyone go by themselves to go fetch water from the river when it’s getting dark.
Everything ended well but we got scared as we could no longer see her, it was getting dark, and she was gone for a long time. We also learnt how to manage and plan for food, although we were a bit on the low by the end, we managed to make it work.
As a friendship group we got closer and bonded and overall, it was a great experience, that we are thankful for being able to do.
