Their story, in their words…
We had gone on a hike in lake district and walked around 40 miles for the 5 days we were there. We were able to climb up to the highest point in England which is scafell pike we also walked around the great gable multiple times. We got to see different views around Lake district and see the beauty of the mountains. We had camped there for 4 nights which 2 days of those days was wild camping and then 2 other days we were camping at a campsite.
The trip had its up downs but started rocky with us missing our original coach on Saturday we were able to overcome this, and we had left on the Monday instead. On that Monday on the bus to Lake district, we had another difficulty with a passenger having a heatstroke on the bus this heavily impacted us as it made us miss the connecting bus that went to Borrowdale. This meant from Keswick we had to walk all the way to Borrowdale and since it was already getting dark we hard to rush due to the time. The trip was a great and challenging experience out of it, and I feel we learned a lot since for most of us this was our first Hike.
Since 2/3 of the members who had experience camping and hiking dropped out it made even more challenging, but we were able to persevere and get over this learning fundamental camping skills like how to set up a tent. We felt like it was a success especially when we hiked Scafell Pike this is because we had gone the harder way up meaning we had to scale up the mountain rather than walking up this then was then satisfying after being able to get top and see the beautiful view. We definitely had to work as team and organise the different meal we had the different times we wake who holds which other bag allowing us to improve are teamwork skills
