Their story, in their words…..
Overall, I would say that our trip was a great success and taught our group a wide range of things about ourselves that we had yet to discover! Surprisingly we didn’t actually run into any major setbacks or troubles throughout the entire trip even when it came to things such as travel which are notoriously troublesome. We managed to hike to all the spots we planned to visit as well as finding suitable spots for camping each night(although some were much better suited to our situation than others!).
We all agreed that the hike up Ben Nevis was without a doubt the hardest escapade we embarked on with all of us admitting that we had underestimated the physical toll it would have on us, especially in 27 Degree heat. Despite this we still managed to complete the climb up in just over 4 hours, this was then followed by Michael running the entirety of the way down the mountain preceded by a 50 minute jog into fort william in order to get food supplies and some treats for the rest of the week (which he had forgotten to buy the night before).
One thing that shocked us all without a doubt was Scotland’s stunning natural beauty. With only Michael having visited Scotland in the past and it being too long ago for him to remember, we were all in awe as the coach took us through the Scottish highlands leading into Fort William as we realised that we would be spending the next week among them.
I believe the greatest thing that we all learnt is that our actual mental and physical limits are far above our preconceived expectations. This I believe will without a doubt fuel our future endeavours and give us a sense of almost being able to take on whatever the world throws at us
