Peak District hike and camp

Their story, in their words…

We went on a hike across the Peak District National Park for 5 days and 4 nights. We stayed at 4 different campsites during the hike. We found it very challenging hiking up and down the very steep hills, but we felt a strong sense of accomplishment at the end of every day when we reached the campsites.

We also found that we brought items with us that we didn’t necessarily need, which weighed us down, however by the final day we were used to the heavy loads. The hike gave us a new independence and allowed us to explore areas outside of London we may not have experienced otherwise and forced us to spend more time appreciating our surroundings, talking to one and other and spending less time on our phones.

On the last day, it was a struggle to get everything packed up ready to hike to the coach on time due to a very heavy rainstorm, but we worked together and persevered. We learnt many new things about the countryside, often through our own missteps.

For example, one of our members touched an electric fence whilst also touching another member which resulted in them both being electric shocked. Notably, they were both unharmed and this experience taught us a valuable lesson that we will never forget.
