Their story, in their words….
We decided to go to the Brecon beacons to look at some stars and explore the brilliant Welsh countryside. We had a great time adventuring into an unknown area; overall, a positive experience even though we had some slight difficulties.
On the first night, we stayed up until 1, waiting for the clouds to clear to look for some stars. We were over the moon when we saw the first one peek through the cloud cover. We were able to see loads through the lens, but when we brought the camera up, we couldn’t see anything. So, the next day, when we were on a walk through the Usk reservoir (a beautiful serene place). We managed to get some mobile signal and could look up the source of the problem and research what went wrong. So that night, we fixed the mistake we were making and were able to get some photos of the stars. It was so great being able to catch the scenery we were able to see through our eyes.
Friday night was hard for us to get any photos at all as it was too cloudy to see anything. However, it was a good bonding experience for both of us; and a much-needed break from technology and everything else. We managed to finish our books, sat around the fire chatting and listening to music.
On Saturday, we went for a lovely walk in the Brecon beacons and went into a forest that looked straight out of a horror movie. Whilst we were there, we didn’t run into any other people; but we managed to get lost in a field full of stinging nettles, swamps and extremely loud sheep. But it was worth it as when we got into the forest, although it was creepy, it was worth it to be surrounded by all of the tall green trees while eating our lunch.
Seeing as we had the telescope for another week, we decided to go to our local allotments and see if we could capture any photos of the London night sky. We didn’t manage to get any pictures of the stars, but we did manage to get some beautiful ones of the moon.
