Their story, in their words…
During our week long stay in the Lake District, we hiked towards the peaks of the Cumbrian Mountains, with our distance averaging at 13km each day.
Initially, we travelled using a physical map, relying on the map holder to pinpoint our current locations, which proved to be a tricky task in such a compact area. However after a chat with one of the campsite staff a couple days later , we found that we could download a digital version, providing easier access and giving us less stress for the upcoming days. Despite the initial trouble, it was much easier to hike along trails without a backpack as large as you would carry on Dofe, making it a more pleasant hike! It was quite refreshing to walk at our own pace and have time to take in the vast scenery that surrounded us, especially since we didn’t have equal experience in walking trails.
From our hike in the north lakes, we got to interact with many types of sheep, horses, cows, chickens, dogs, cats, and bugs! The Lake District has the largest variety of animals and bugs we have ever seen and the atmosphere of the land is so beautiful and serene. This trip has given us a fonder love for nature and appreciation for all national trails and footpaths that are maintained. Overall, it worked out amazing and it was an unforgettable trip.
