Fleetwith Pike Hike

Their story, in their words…

We hiked around 12km each day from each campsite (4 in total) around the lake district, stopping to swim in the lake, take in the view and go on sunset walks. The hardest day was day 3 when we hiked over one of the Cumbria mountains which had beautiful views (finding a waterfall to take a break at) but it was very steep especially with heavy bags on so it was a challenge but after some motivation as a group we saw the other side of the mountain and pushed through to the campsite.

Everyone made an effort to give it their 100% effort which was noticeable as everyone had allocated jobs: map reading, cooking, campsites and photos. On the whole the trip was very successful and everyone has become more resilient as a result of having to challenge themselves and push the mental barrier that’s set of what’s actually possible, especially when on the 3rd day we ran out of water and had to make it to the campsite with resilience.

After the trip Ive learned that I can be a leader as well as being able to share responsibility and have trust in my group which is something I was worried about before the trip, as well as trust in myself that I can thrive when in an area none of us have been to before: successfully travelling there and back using multiple methods of transport (coach, tube and train). For my group I think they learned they are capable of more than what they think- previously not challenging themselves that much and Im proud of what they achieved.
