Welcome to the Mark Evison Foundation Website

The Mark Evison Foundation gives financial support to young individuals who wish to pursue their own personal, physical and mental development. We want to give others the opportunity to develop and grow by challenging themselves, just as Mark did.

Mark impressed everyone with his fun, his active can-do attitude, his idealism and interest in personal development, his interest in adventuring, and his care and concern for others.  He died at the age of 26 from a gunshot wound in Afghanistan whilst a lieutenant in the Welsh Guards of the British Army. We want Mark’s name and values to live on and his death to have some specific positive effect. Mark was always pushing himself to make the most of his life, trying just that much harder, and many individuals and organisations helped him achieve great things in his short life. We want to celebrate Mark’s life by helping others as Mark received help.

The Foundation supports young people in two ways. First we provide funds to help young people who wish to specifically challenge themselves, as Mark did. These general awards will support the personal development of young people at a stage when the opportunity to push oneself and so continue to develop confidence in oneself is important for later life. We also give school awards at selected schools for specific efforts connected with personal challenge and development.

For those thinking of applying for awards we would say: come on, push yourself just that bit further. We will give you funds to take a carefully-thought-through risk and have an adventure: we hope you will walk away after quite a lot of effort feeling great, more confident and stronger in every way.  We will help you surprise yourself.

Thank you for your interest,

Margaret Evison
