In June 2010 Gunner Steven Gadsby (pictured to the right with his partner, Lorna) who helped carry Mark under fire, was awarded  the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross from her Majesty the Queen, and Lance Sergeant Leon Peek was mentioned in dispatches for his part in taking over the leadership and holding the platoon together. All the platoon soldiers behaved with exceptional bravery to get Mark back to safety on 9 May 2009.

 

In April 2011 a number of new awards have been given, including our first major award – for new equipment to help a young man win points in the hope of joining the England Canoe Slalom Squad. The number of schools participating in our Schools Awards scheme has widened to include more state schools, and awards have been given to them.
