Before applying for a Major Award you should read the information given on the website very carefully to make sure you are eligible for funding and to check whether your request fits in with our current funding criteria, as we will not usually grant awards towards work that falls outside these guidelines.
Major awards can be up to £5000 in value. Applications for awards are invited four times a year, to be submitted by 31 January, 30 April, 31 July and 31 October each year. Interviews of applicants are conducted soon after each of those application dates. If you are successful we would hope to give the award within 2 months of application.
When submitting an application for a major award, the Trustees will want to see evidence of detailed planning and preparation. The section ‘guidelines’ lists questions it would be helpful for you to consider, and details you should try to give in your application.

We appreciate that this maybe the first time that you as a young person has applied for funding or even attempted a personal challenge of this kind. We want to help you along the way, and so have set up a mentoring scheme. The mentor is there to help at any stage of the process – but remember, the initial idea must be yours and you must be in the driving seat.
Please contact us if you would like to use our mentoring scheme.
